Key Not Recognised? – here are Common Questions Answered
What is car key programming?
Most cars (since 1995) have an immobiliser. Your key has a chip (transponder). We program the chip so your car starts.
How long does programming take?
Most jobs take about 40–60 minutes. Time depends on your car and key type.
Can you come to me and program on-site?
Yes. We are fully mobile across Greater London, the M25 and nearby. We cut and program at your location.
Can you program a used key?
Sometimes yes, sometimes no. It depends on the make, model, and the key’s chip. We’ll check your car and advise.
Do I need two keys to program a new one?
Some cars require two working keys for on-board (owner) programming. With our diagnostic tools, we can program keys even if you have one (or none), then pair at least two as required.
After a fob battery change, do I need reprogramming?
Usually no — a battery swap is enough. If the fob loses sync, we can re-sync/program it on the spot.
